Topping headlines is AMR's favourie Melbourne duo Big Scaryrevealing details of their impossibly anticipated debut. Pull out your permanent makers and personal devices and mark a big red cirlce on Friday October 7, as that's when Vacation will be released, on the band's newly formed Pieater label. The press release describes how it "touches on slowly losing touch with any known constants - friends, lovers, permanent accomadtion and jobs." We've already heard the scales-tastic Mix Tape (may I point you once again to the Alice Dupre-directed video" but the next single to be lifted from the album will be Gladiator - you can read about both in AMR's 'Biggest, Scariest Interiew Yet.' Coldplay have christened their fifth studio album as Mylo Xyloto. Following on from the preposterous sensitivity of an EP titled Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, I think it's a winningly bizarre choice. The album will be preceded by another single, by the relatively normal name of Paradise on Sep 12, before its physical and digital release on Oct 24. It will feautre some fancy 'reversible artwork,' which you can see below, again working with the legendary Brian Eno who added - in the band's own words - "enoxification and additional composition." Right... still very excited to see how this sounds.(via Coldplay.com)
Finally, in other album release news, the equally small-fry Radiohead, have announced their first official remix album.RADIOHEAD TKOL 1 2 3 4 5 6 7gathers all those King of Limbs remixes into one handy compilation and features contributions from the taste-making likes of SBTRKT, Caribou, Jamie XX and Four Tet across two discs, and is due later in the year. Lastly, Sigur Rós having been pretty quiet ever since Jónsi decided to head off on the solo album and tour thing, but their official website has just released a clip for something called Inni. Featuing some scratchy footage of the Icelandic quartet gearing up for a live show, as well as what could be some new sounds from the band.Pitchork confirms that the artsy visuals are courtesy of Vincent Morrisett (the man responsible for Arcade Fire's Mirror Noir), the implication being of a new DVD/film projet along the lines of Heima. You can view the embedded teaser below (via Sigur Rós and Pitchfork)
